It is difficult to find these days a musical approach to the different angles of beauty. Honesty and commitment with what an artist does are the primary elements to build an artistic creation. A musical composition is an abstraction when this one lands on a paper, pending to be orchestrated, prepared and finally interp...reted and conducted...and recorded. If we add the rest of the necessary elements to make the sheet breath, we find in the road Frederica Von Stade, happily rescued in this recording, Dulce Pontes and all the wonderful voices that make this artistic creation a must to be heard and lived, because "Calling All Dawns" is a monumental and intimate work of music that can make you feel alive in these days where it seems that being loudly is being on the mood.
This incredible musical journey deserves attention. It is an experience you will not forget. The sensibility of a talented musician, the astonishing rendition of the Royal Philharmonic Orchestra which sounds have been masterfully captured by John Kurlander make this work a piece of art. If you want to have a simil with... a movie, I think, from the beginning to "Lawrence of Arabia": a big but an intimate movie. This is how "Calling all Dawns" sounds: monumental, intimate and strongly constructed.
Difficult to not be in tears when you hear "Se É Pra Vir Que Venha" with Dulce Pontes or "Hymn Do Trojcy Swietej" with Frederica Von Stade. But tracks cannot be taken separately. All are movements that allow the trip to this fascinating musical journey.
I thank all the people involved in this project and recording, and ...specially Christopher Tin to have the courage and the strenght to leave us the possibility of put a CD on our players, sit and let the notes of his oustanding work invade our senses and let them see the different faces of musical beauty.
