Biographie
London's eclectic, guitar-free trio Golden Silvers formed in 2007 and featured vocalist/keyboardist Gwylim Gold, bassist Ben Moorhouse, and drummer Alexis Nunez. Gold and Nunez had played together in previous projects and brought Moorhouse — who was usually a guitarist — into the fold to complete the band's rhythm section. Crafting a danceable indie rock sound with influences ranging from the Beach Boys and Super Furry Animals to David Bowie and Kraftwerk, Golden Silvers augmented their early gigs with Bronze Club, a monthly club night where the band deejayed and played live. They won the 2008 Glastonbury Unsigned contest and played four shows at the festival that summer; shortly after, their debut single "Arrows of Eros" was released by the Young and Lost label. After a string of dates opening for the Mystery Jets, the band released the "Magic Touch/Another Universe" single on their own Bronze Records imprint that fall. The Golden Silvers signed to XL and spent the rest of 2008 recording their debut album. The new wave-worshipping single "True Romance" was their first XL release, arriving in spring 2009; the full-length True Romance dropped that summer.
