Gay Before God

Within the folds of the Church of England, a scandal is brewing – and hypocrisy stands proud as charity dwindles.

Gay love has no respect for narrow theological boundaries, a gay man decides to be true to himself despite the furious demands of a Bishop to end what he sees as a burgeoning same sex love affair involving a church employee, Yes the future of families, careers and the reputation of the church itself are all placed in jeopardy.

To be both gay and Christian is a challenge few romance novels tackle. This one, sparked by a love letter that describes true love, albeit of the gay awakening variety, is a tender examination of the dilemmas felt daily by gay and straight clerics alike.

There is no suggestion that there is a gay god or that there should even be a gay church, but surely a tolerant god should embrace true Christians no matter what their choice of sexual orientation. Also a truly loving family should accept their gay son for what he is, with no prejudice or ulterior motives.

Unfortunately this is not always the case, and gay men can find prejudice and hypocrisy in places it really shouldn't be found. But can real love, even real gay love, survive in a world where all the cards are stacked against it?
