The album that very nearly wasn't

Well... it wasn't. Had it not been for Siobhan's tenacity, Warner Bros would still own all of these songs, and they'd be languishing in some basement somewhere, never to be heard from again. Luckily, she bought the rights and released the album that should have appeared in 1996, this time on her very own label. I love this album - a blend of clever lyrics, postmodern glam rock, and not a little comic bitterness about the departure of Marcella Detroit. Sophisticated pop/rock at its most exuberant.

Without Marcella warbling away, Shakespears Sister took the direction it was meant to. Stupidly, this album was locked away by the record company for almost a decade with no hope of release. Finally it's available, and it is the best they ever made.

A thoroughly decent suprise!

Brilliant! Just catching up with a few old favourites and never even knew this existed... but... have to say that I'm very impressed! Give it a go and you might be as pleasantly suprised as I was.

Most of the material on Sacred Heart and the 1991 follow-up Hormonally Yours was written with...
