Decent compilation of 80s remixes
The 1980's saw the true birth of the 12 inch extended mix. Unlike modern remixes, where 'name' DJs and producers put their own mark on tracks, in the 80's remixes were often greatly extended versions of the original tracks, allowing the compositions to breathe and have their individual parts highlighted.
There are a plethora of 80's remix compilations, all featuring huge releases from the usual suspects (FGTH, Pet Shop Boys, Duran Duran etc.). This compilation (with one big exception) features some of the more unusual tracks. It opens with Blue Monday, the biggest selling 12 inch single of the 1980's, and therefore not really an alternative track. Welcome to the Pleasuredome, the fourth and only single to not reach number one from their album of the same name, represents Frankie Goes To Hollywood, rather than the normal inclusion of Relax or Two Tribes.
This is a great compilation, with some real gems on it from some of the forgotten heroes of the 80's.
