Album Review

On 21, Adele is still the bluesy pop diva with a singer/songwriter's soul and seemingly bottomless capacity for heartbreak. The album showcases Adele's titanic vocal ability. She immediately injects us with the propulsive gospel fever-blues anthem "Rolling in the Deep," which is ridiculously sexy and one of the best singles of any decade. Elsewhere, we get the blues-inflected "Rumour Has It" and the old-school-style soul cut "He Won't Go," which are terrifically catchy, booty-shaking numbers. Similarly enthralling is the centerpiece of the album, the mega-ballad showstopper "Take It All" — an instant classic in the tradition of "The Rose," "And I Am Telling You I Am Not Going" — and "All by Myself," which could stand over the years as a career landmark for the singer.

Beautiful

What a masterpiece. Album of the year, and we're only in January. Nothing will beat it.

Adele ... Stunning.

I have been a fan of adele since her first album (19)... she has been gone quite a while, but when you listen to 21, you realise that she has been away making a perfect album. It is just beautiful. Her voice is so powerful and emotional, well done Adele. One of the best artist around.

Classic Soul

I don't understand how iTunes can class this as rock when it's a great representation of classic soul with some country influences. This is an amazing sophomore effort by Adele and I knew I would buy this album ever since I saw her perform Someone Like You on Later...
I love the work she's done with Ryan Tedder and the fact that they aren't recognisable Tedder songs.

When the U.K. press began dubbing Adele "the next Amy Winehouse" in late 2007, the hype didn't touch upon the heavy singer/songwriter influence found in the Londoner's music. Influenced by Suzanne Vega as much as Jill Scott, Adele first made an impression in 2006 when she toured as an opening act for Jack Penate. She had graduated to headlining status by the end of 2007, thanks to BBC Radio 1 playing her single "Daydreamer"; another song, "Hometown Glory," was also released as a single on Jamie T.'s...
