Mowgli's debut album 93 will smash open your mind, juggle it, spin it, sooth it and reshape it before putting it back loosely in your cranium.
This is the most original hip hop album for years. Mowgli pulls out all the stocks with this mammoth album and takes no prisoners in his pursuit of art.
It demonstrates a variety of styles and influences from Roots Manuva through to spoken word poetry.
Mowgli's lyrical ability is second to none; the lyrics dance playfully and evocatively over lo-fi bleeps and old samples. The imagery counjoured by the lyrics acts faster than your logical mind, letting you enjoy the tracks on a purely audible level at first, and then go back later and listen to them in closer detail. Mowgli makes subtle social observations and also purveys large philosophical bombs throughout his tracks.
If you're into UK hip hop and you haven't listened to this album yet, you're wasting precious time.

Literally everything thomas has said below is spot on. This album is amazing. It has refreshed my interest in uk hip hop in that it's just so original. You could liken it some us indie stuff like possibly Aesop rock regarding the style of content and delivery. The production is also genius. Some of the beats are bringing some serious weight. Honestly, this is as forward thinking as it gets. Genius. Too many tracks for one album though! Definitely enough quality material here for two albums.
