A day like today -Emily Smith's 1st album
This is a very strong debut album, with plenty of song and good musical backing. Buy if you like Karine Polwart, the songs of Robbie Burns, or Scottish traditional music in general.
A Day Like Today
An outstanding debut album. 'The Cruel Mother' is eerie and sinister, yet delivered with such a perfect vocal it becomes a thing of tragic, but mesmerising beauty 'Fair Helen' and 'Time Wares Awa' are other highlights.

Singer/songwriter, multi-instrumentalist, and interpreter of traditional song Emily Smith is one of the leading figures on the contemporary Scottish folk scene. Born in Dumfries and Galloway, Smith spent her early childhood performing at her mother's dance school, but developed a love of music after taking up the piano, snare drum, and accordion.
