Customer Reviews
Music's great, lyrics... aren't
I'll get the negative out of the way first. Shikari have been talking about people being brainwashed into political views they don't agree with for the last 2 and a half years, and by now it seems they're doing the same thing. There's nothing wrong with political awareness, but the same lyrical theme for 2 albums and a whole bunch of singles in between is getting tired, and somewhat hypocritical, I see a lot of young people with no clue about politics and the economy just blindly repeating phrases from songs like "Gandhi Mate, Gandhi". After promising that Common Dreads would be the only politically themed album, a change is in order to keep listeners interested.
That said, the music itself is top-notch. The band have really played to their strengths on this album, effortlessly fusing the firey aggression of Take to the Skies with the more hip-hop and dubstep influenced electronics and vocal styles from Common Dreads. It's great to hear just as many sections completely devoid of electronics as there are ones which are solely electronic, this is arguably their most diverse album to date. An almost stadium rock-like sound is achieved on Search Party and Pack of Thieves, and parts of Warm Smiles Do Not Make You Welcome Here and Hello Tyrannosaurus, Meet Tyrannicide are reminiscent of the band's earliest demos, leaving an album containing snapshots of the band's sound throughout their entire career so far. A highly recommended album!
5 STAR GURU APPROVAL!
Knew this album would be sick from the start and doesn't disappoint! Good to see Enter Shikari not selling out like others such as Wiz, even if it is all about Mac Miller. Music Guru recommends hello tyrannosaurus, meet tyrannicide and meltdown. Just chill and feel the vibes, much better than Ghetts' Whack Flow you get me? GURU KEEP UP THE GOOD WORK!!! Very alternative music now seeing as alternative is becoming mainstream and mainstream mainstream, must buy, end of.
LIT NEXT GEN !!
once again enter shikari fail to disappoint and release an album that sticks true to their roots whilst still accessing new listeners all over the world. The common breakdowns in their new songs are especially mind-blowing, by turning your brain to goo, this is present in songs such as 'Grandi Mate, Gandhi'. CANT WAIT TO SEE THIS ALBUM LIVE!!!!! amazing.
