Riding high with her own TV show (The New Girl), Zooey Deschanel and her musical foil M. Ward put together this likable album of holiday fare. It captures a sweet, retro feel; what’s Christmas but a chance to wax nostalgic for the wonders of childhood and Christmases past? The easeful arrangements bring out the best in classic Christmas tunes such as “Have Yourself a Merry Little Christmas,” “Sleigh Ride,” “Rockin’ Around the Christmas Tree,” and “The Christmas Song.” Guitars, ukulele, occasional keyboards, and sweet vocal ensembles (shining on “Christmas Day” and “Christmas Wish”) make this a laidback celebration, designed to be played as lights blink and eggnog is sipped. The copyright date may be 2011, but this is more in line with classic holiday albums from the ‘50s through the early ‘70s.

Hearing Zooey sing *giddy up giddy up* on Sleigh Ride is worth the cost of this album alone. Recommended for any Zooey fans!

Best album of 2011.

Got the album this morning and it's wonderful. Been a fan of She & Him since the start of the band and every single album is absolutely fantastic. I'm in love.

A great slice of Christmas Quirkiness

Having loved Volumes 1 and 2 from She & Him, I was always going to buy their Christmas album as soon as I heard about it and I wasn't disappointed.

As with the previous albums, Zooey Deschanel is the main lead singer for this album. However, her collaborator, M Ward is given more of a chance for the lead on this album.

Basically, the musical style previously adopted on the previous two albums fits perfectly with this album as do Ms Deschanel's and Mr Ward's beautiful vocals.

If you love She & Him, buy this album. If you love Christmas, buy this album. IF YOU LOVE BOTH, DEFINITELY BUY THIS ALBUM.

She & Him feature the somewhat unlikely pairing of country-folk artist M. Ward and actress Zooey Deschanel. While starring in the 2007 film The Go-Getter, Deschanel was asked by director Martin Hynes to perform a duet with Ward, who had agreed to helm the movie's soundtrack. The two recorded a cover of Richard & Linda Thompson's "When I Get to the Border" and later reconvened in Portland, where they began recording Deschanel's own songs (which the actress had previously kept secret) in Ward's...
