20 of their best songs, including all of their hit singles. On original compositions like "Mrs. Murphy," "Archangel," "Orpheus," and "Deadlier Than The Male," Scott Walker unveils the disturbed visions that would characterize his solo work, and John Walker's "Saddest Night In The World" and "I Can't Let It Happen To You" display a solid writing talent that he was sadly unable to develop into a solo career of his own.

Scott Walker, the greatest white male vocalist ever. Just a stunning album!

After the lights go out

Stupendous. With this album you have the very best of the Sixties. In fact, the very best of any decade with Scott Walker possibly the finest soloist around. Only criticim is that it doesn't include Jacky.

Oh that voice

I was so in love with Scott as a very young teenager, and listening to him again all these years later I can see why, I still love that hauntingly beautiful and magnificent voice.

They weren't British, they weren't brothers, and their real names weren't Walker, but Californians Scott Engel, John Maus, and Gary Leeds were briefly huge stars in England (and small ones in their native land) at the peak of the British Invasion. Engel and Maus were playing together in Hollywood when drummer Leeds suggested they form a trio and try to make it in England. And they did — with surprising swiftness, they hit the top of the British charts with "Make It Easy on Yourself" in 1965....
