All Delighted Fans

This "EP" (despite being labelled an EP, it is an hour long!) is the first full and consistent musical output from Sufjan (with his voice, so excluding the BQE) since 2006's 'The Avalanche' which went down a treat with fans, but left them wanting more! Well this is what they've been waiting for.

It's basically a remodelling of an old demo of his entitled 'All Delighted People', changed into two, longer, more 'Sufjany' versions, along with 6 other beautiful tracks.

1. All Delighted People (Original Version) - Possibly the best song on the EP, long, enchanting, with that jazzy Illinoise big band feel to it in parts.

2. Enchanting Ghost - Mainly Sufjan and his guitar, as you can tell his playing has improved over time, so the picking patterns are more intricate and complex. Good song.

3. Heirloom - Mainly acoustic guitar and Sufjan's reverb voice. When it gets into it, it's a really beautiful song - nice chord changes about a minute in.

4. From The Mouth Of Gabriel - Sounding like something from his Songs For Christmas collection, this song has catchy lyrics and distinctive choir voices echoing Sufjan. One of the best songs perhaps.

5. The Owl And The Tanager - A dark, simple, piano song - with clever lyrics (listen carefully). It really is beautiful, Sufjan's voice is excellent on this song.

6. All Delighted People (Classic Rock Version) - The other version of the title track, this has a more typical Sufjan sound, with the banjos, horns, choir, and 'cool' guitar solos like Jacksonville for example. Much more euphoric than the other version.

7. Arnika - Not the best song, but still worthy, and big fans will appreciate this.

8. Djohariah - I can't say that I've listened to this in detail because it's so damn long! But I can say that it's been played once, and is a relatively good listen, if you are patient (very important).

A GREAT PRELUDE TO THE NEW ALBUM

This is an epic EP. Really looking forward to The Age of Adz which will be released in October the first single of which 'I walked' is already available for free on bandcamp, both will tide me over until then.
