Album Review

Less punk than infectious power pop, Chicago's Plain White T's put a modern, airwave-affable stamp on that beloved strain of the rock & roll virus with All That We Needed. The jumpy title track launches the set with a nod to Tom Petty's "American Girl," but the hooks don't stop there. The band draws on Jimmy Eat World for the hit contender "Take Me Away," while tunes like the lovelorn "My Only One" and the punchy "Revenge" rock harder and feel more original. If the cowbell-heavy "What More Do You Want?" is as cheesy as it is alluring, the guilty pleasures continue with the "young horny guy on tour" missive "Sing My Best," which is just one of several songs that recall great lost bands like the Producers, the Ravyns, and the Romantics. The obligatory acoustic parting shot is also solid, evoking the spirit of Big Star's classic "Thirteen." ~ John D. Luerssen, Rovi

brilliant

Not many groups could do such a great first album. there's a briliant mix of upbeat and more balladly songs. If you want to buy a couple...the best are sad story, breakdown, take me away and my only one. and obviously everyone loves hey there delilah. My friend played me this album and i was hooked on the guys. And they've opened my eyes to some fantastic other bands, but none as good as themselves. Seriously though...buy this.

Amazing Songs

I have got most of the songs from this album and every week one of them is my favourite song! Hey There Delilah is an absolute classic for me. The lyrics to all these songs are all deep and meaningful and they are truely great songs. I recommend this to people who like a soft rock and like bands such as Snow Patrol

Not so new after all

This actually isn't their first album, but their third out of four. Hey Delilah was re released after the success of their 4th album in America.

Hailing from the suburbs of Chicago, the punk-pop outfit Plain White T's began taking shape in 1997, a full ten years before the acoustic ballad "Hey There Delilah" made them Grammy-nominated stars. Lead singer Tom Higgenson was originally fascinated with the drums, having served as the percussionist for various rock bands during high school.
