Eclectic excellence!
Stuart has been widely aclaimed by many west end favourites. Scott Alan notoriously raved about Stuart and his performance of Over the Mountains all over Twitter, which is personally how I came to hear of him.
After seeing him perform in several cabaret shows, I took the plunge and bought the album. I expected to love one or two songs, like 5 or 6, and dislike a few. However this is a real eclectic mix of sounds, from the more pop-like Wishing for the Normal to the beautifully gentle 'Angels', so you are constantly surprised as each song hits you, meaning you can't help but fall a bit in love with them all. Stuart's voice transcends the realms of human capabilities at times with the high notes he manages to hit with (it appears) such ease...and most importantly, has a very emotive, honest quality to his voice which is bound to win most over.
There are inevitably still songs which I prefer over others, with Hope Springs Eternal, Autumn Days and A Touch of Love being my favourites, but I can honestly say that I never skip over any when I listen to this, which is a sure sign of brilliance.
If you haven't heard of Stuart but are into musical theatre composers and performer, then buy this album.
If you havent heard of Stuart and just like a good old treat to the eardrums, then buy this album.
If you HAVE heard of Stuart and havent got this album, then seriously, shame on you!
An absolute must!
What a voice! I don't know if you can ever truly capture the wonder of Stuart's voice without hearing him live, but this certainly comes close. A pleasure to work with, listen to and know. Love it!
