It really is all about the funk!

This album was a complete impulse buy on my behalf as I loved the single "Boogie". If you too love this song, this album certainly won't disappoint you. I don't own any other albums by The Brand New Heavies so I didn't know what to expect, but I just love Nicole Russo's funky vocals. This album is almost flawless with its genuinely funky sound and couldn't have been more appropriately named. The only inexplicable blip is "Many Rivers to Cross" which is a dragging slow number; it's not a bad song, but certainly stands out against the high calibre of the rest of the tracks. If I had to pick the highlights from this album then I would probably say "Boogie", "Waste My Time", "What Do You Take Me For?", "Surrender" and "It Could Be Me". But as I have already stated, this album is absolutely fantastic, ridiculously catchy and most certainly "all about the funk".

Keep on funkin'

After all these years they still sound fantastically funky. Bought this as a fan without listening and just love What Do You Take Me For? and Boogie. For all BNH newcomers, check out their back catalogue - they've still got the funk!
