Love or Hate?
I was once told you ether love or hate Antony's voice and style, I'm probably biased by the fact that I love his voice. Antony's voice plays on the break between masculine and feminine, his tone is soft and vocals are clear. The overall effect is mellowing and can leave you clear headed or in tears depending on your mood. He can touch your soul and break your heart. Antony can make any lirics sound amazing. But be warned if you don't like one of his songs or samples you probably won't like any of them. A strange and entrancing listen and will bring you crawling for more enjoy.
Outstanding
Imagine the scene - A smoky bar with red velvet curtains, small round tables with candles, a slow moving glitter ball and people who aren't really listening to the music. On the stage sitting on a stool is a drag queen cabaret act breaking her heart into the mic, smudged eyeliner a cigarette, too much to drink and a lover who has treated her so wrong.This album is a modern day masterpeice, a beautiful tribute to the kind of music that seems to have been forgotten. Cripple And The Starfish will stay with you forever..... she takes a bow and leaves the stage 'thankyou very much and goodnight'......
Do not dismiss because it sounds like music to hang yourself too
This was originally bought as a Valentines present for me. What had I done wrong? Thats what I thought the first time I listened to this. Thank god for random play. What must go on in his mind? This is haunting, thought provoking and sometimes stunning. You will probably be familar with Cripple and the Starfish but not know from where. Track down the other album 'I am a bird now' and pick the track you want played at your funeral.
