Best Debut Album of 2008

In a musical world with so much dull, manufactured, unimaginative soulless music, it is so refreshing to find something that stands apart and revives your faith in music. This album does just that. It touches on various different genres but fans of blues, rock, acoustic and even pop music will not be disappointed. With most current music, the lyrics just pass me by but here they stand out as an integral part of the songs - from the hilarious "Jerry Springer" to the moving "St James Infirmary". The cover of House of The Rising Sun is simply the best version ever recorded - and anyone who says different is just wrong. And his voice... I don't need to say anything except that the samples here don't nearly do it justice - just download the songs and you'll be blown away.

love this album

Heart-wrenching renditions like St James Infirmary alongside Americana satire a la Dennis Leary. It's never been done but works really well, and the kid has talent. It's the Simpsons equivalent to modern rock - works for me on many levels.

He Is Even Better Live!!

I saw this guy in a small bar called Churchill's in Brussels five days ago, where he joined Andrew Mavin (who was excellent also), to play three songs. I bought this album on the strength of two of them. There was nothing wrong with the performance of the third song, it just happened to be "Hey Jude" and I hate it. This album lives up to, and surpasses, all my expectations. Great Rock/Bluesy Numbers with real attitude and a great voice to boot (his voice is like this live) Johnny Chorizo
