Goosebumps

I fell in love with The Used in 2002, instantly loved their first album, it hit me like no other. 'In Love and Death' was good but didn't have the same impact as the self titled, 'Lies for the Liars' was a disappointment for me if I'm honest, so I was apprehensive with 'Artwork'. Then when I heard it, WOW! That same feeling like I had when I first heard self titled. I had goose bumps when hearing some of the tracks. Also some bands are good only on cd and can't cut it live, The Used do both awesomely so be sure to check them out on their upcoming tour.

AMAZING.

Strange when you first listen to it but it grows on you and it's amazing. BUY IT!!

Disappointing

Being a fairly big fan of the used, i was highly anticipating artwork's release. However, upon hearing it, i was very disappointed. The songs are mostly bass-heavy, catchless melodies (save for 'blood on my hands', followed by 'empty with you' and 'sold my soul' and even then, they're not amazing). I just couldn't get into the swing of the album. It's all well and good they're evolving or going in a different direction, as some may say, but different doesn't always equal good.

But they persevered and earned a contract with Reprise Records, releasing their self-titled debut album in June 2002. Having only played a handful of shows around Orem prior to their record's release, the band — vocalist Bert McCracken, guitarist Quinn Allman, bassist Jeph Howard,...
