Album Review
After solidly establishing themselves on the contemporary heavy music scene, Avenged Sevenfold wasted little time following up their 2005 break-through effort, City of Evil. The band took a bold step on their fourth and self-titled full-length, opting to produce it themselves: a risky task indeed for such a young band. Right out of the gate, singer M. Shadows leads A7X even further into melodic territory. Still, the band explore dramatic power metal in the epic "A Little Piece of Heaven," while first single "Critical Acclaim" cuts close for what has become the group's signature sound. Nonetheless, it is on this self-titled set that the band sets its sights on the mainstream.

BEST ALBUM OF 2007
No question this is the best album of 2007. It's got everything. The huge scream-along anthems ("Scream", "Critical Acclaim"), the pulsing metal behemoths ("Unbound", "Brompton Cocktail") & the slow ballads ("Dear God"). But the best song to represent the whole album is definitely "A Little Piece Of heaven", Avenged Sevenfold's masterpiece. It's a Panic At The Disco theatrical style epic with eerie atmospherics & some awesome vocals from M Shadows & The Rev. If you download one rock album, it has to be this one. IT'S FANTASTIC! GET IT!
M Shodows and Co do it again!!!
Since getting this album I have not been able to stop listening to it, This is my favourite album by Avenged because it is so different from the others, But at the same time they have put a few avenged style tracks on here (Critical Acclaim, Scream) And then you have the new styles such as ’Dear God’ which is just must a Ballard and a very good one at that but the song of the album has to be ’A Little Piece Of Heaven’ all I can call this song is ‘Circus Metal’, It is a very strange and odd song but it works so well with the rest of the songs it makes the album. Performances: *M Shadows: Grows with each album amazing vocals, *Zacky Vengeance: More solid then ever before, *The Rev: Great drums lines and ace vocals, *Synyster Gates: What can you really say more amazing solos, *Johnny Christ: Doing what he does best, If you like any type of rock then this album is for you!!! 10/10
Avenge Sevenfold
Wow! What a follow up to City of Evil. This album is incredible. When a band brings a great album out they normally follow it up with something rather lame compared to their previous albums. But Avenge Sevenfold have reached a climax with this self-titled album. The album is heavy and has a great sound to it. My rating on Avenge Sevenfold is 10/10. Top 5 1 - Almost Easy 2 - Scream 3 - Lost 4 - Critical Acclaim 5 - Afterlife Song Ratings : Critical Acclaim - 9/10 Almost Easy - 10/10 Scream - 9.5/10 Afterlife - 8.5/10 Gunslinger - 8/10 Unbound (The Wild Ride) - 8/10 Brompton Cocktail - 8.5/10 Lost - 9.5/10 A Little Piece Of Heaven - 9/10 Dear God - 8/10 And the video to Almost Easy is a definite 10/10.
