Album Review
Esteban was classified as new age simply because while he was recording his first neuvo flamenco records, there was no other category for him. Right before the Gypsy Kings, before Ottmar Liebert, there was Esteban. This Best of Esteban, compiled from his dozens of records, contains the finest examples of what the man does best: he playa a stunning and disciplined style of flamenco that has been heavily influenced by atmospheric new age music and Latin pop.

Guitarist Esteban (Stephen Paul) began playing his favorite instrument at a very young age. Having graduated from Pittsburgh's Carnegie Mellon University, the talented musician moved to Spain to take master classes with Andrés Segovia, known as the father of the modern classical guitar movement, returning to the U.S. in 1978.
