iTunes Review
British chanteuse Birdy was only 15 when she recorded her eponymous debut, but she'd actually begun composing original songs at the age of seven. That said, this album is largely driven by the strength of its cover songs; her stripped-down versions of tracks both old and new are utterly charming. She opens with a spare take on Phoenix’s “1901”, turning the tune into a lovelorn ballad with a little appropriating of ADELE’s melancholy piano style. She makes Fleet Foxes’ “White Winter Hymnal” even more wintry while nailing all those vocal parts with her own cloned harmonies. Keeping the preciousness intact, her gossamer rendition of Bon Iver’s “Skinny Love” exercises the same restraint while infusing a womanly emotion throughout. She even makes James Taylor’s “Fire and Rain” sound indie. Bonus tracks on the deluxe version include covers of Mew’s “Comforting Sounds”, Smashing Pumpkins’ “Farewell and Goodnight”, and Cherry Ghost’s “People Help the People”.

Class act!
First album I have bought in years, well worth it! Amazing voice! Great album. Why is my name gypsy traveller thoug...
Unoriginal
If this wasn't by a 15-year-old it would never have been released. Apart from track 10 every song on here is a cover and whilst she can sing she needs to try more variations with her voice because this just drags on in the same dull tone. Also her label or herself need to sort out some material for her to sing and stop this girl continuing with making decent songs dull and boring.
WOW
it doesn't matter that its basically just an album of covers… she puts her own stamp on them. she says that her next album will be more her own material, but atm she is concentrating on school. her voice is just stunning… glad i waited… this is amazing. x
