This disc will come as a surprise to anyone who thinks settings of Shakespeare to music are only confined to the Baroque and the 20th Century. Bishop's music is full of colour, humour, richness and surprises. There are even adaptations of some Elizabethan/jacobean settings. The orchestrations are wonderful, the playing is brilliant, the singing is very fine, and Pickett stirs up the whole performance into "something rich and strange". A truly exciting disc deserving of more exposure.
