an intro to the genius
'The only way to truly appreciate Dylan is to hear someone else sing it', (My dad, the night of this concert. It would be fair to say that the sound of Bob Dylan is an aquired taste, however this album, in tribute to 30 years as the most genius lyric writer in the history of folk and rock offers an introduction to his genius, in a more listenable vain and with it comes some of the best performances ever of the artists performing. (Kris Kristofferson aside). The stand out tracks are 'Masters of War' sung by Eddie Vedder, 'Like a rolling Stone' sung by John mellancamp. The finale 'Knockin on Heavens Door' is possibly the only version of that amazing song ever to do it justice. That night, watching this concert as a small boy changed my life, and opened my eyes to music, true lyric, emotion led music for ever.
