KC Fences Another Beauty

Fortunately for all of us KC's wit and lyrically deftness are far superior to the ham fisted attempt at a pun in this review title. KC has always had the great lyrics to match his wonderful mealancholic voice. Whether it's the Cluedo references of 'You've No Clue Do You?', the use of anachronistic phrases like "stepping out" in 'Nooks' or the line, "You seem a trifle unhappy, That I'm a cowardly custard" in the lovely folk ditty 'Cowardly Custard.' Musically this has less of the brass backing which The Earlies lent to KC Rules OK, with more of a focus on accordion, guitar and a bit of strings. This means that the album has a slightly different sound but at it's core is the same folk brilliance. If there was any justice in the world this album would match the sales of ex-Fence compatriat KT Tunstall but for now those of us who are aware of this gem of a songwriter can enjoy him until the rest of the country catches up!

KC definetely rules OK

It's good to see King Creoote back with another helping. I saw them live at a festival this year and some new tracks were played which went down really well. The title track has a nice little bass line and At the W.A.L has a quality rift throughout the latter parts. It's much of the same really from KC only a bit more powerful. This really is a collection of beautiful tunes that deserves recognition. But then KC aren't about the glory...they're about the tunes! Well done guys...
