iTunes Review

In the wake of punk, bands like Boston were labeled traitors to the rock and roll cause, their perfectionism and sheen attacked as lifeless and bland. On this self-titled debut, though, guitarist/leader Tom Scholz’s overdub-happy meld of stainless metal, art-rock and plainspoken rock lyricism feels like something of an important vision itself. Singer Brad Delp had the chops to hang in the screaming cathedrals Scholz built of “More Than a Feeling” and “Long Time,” and the hardheaded individualism of “Peace of Mind” summed up the philosophy of the head guy, who’d escaped Polaroid’s R&D department to mastermind one of the bestselling albums of its day. Also, let’s give a shoutout to the three-minute amusement-park spin that’s “Hitch a Ride.” Its sped-up organ moment was the result of true inspiration; Scholz literally laid his hand on the tape reel to produce the effect.

amazing

i hadn't really heard much of boston before playing the majority of this album on the 'rock band' game. More than a feeling is the song most associated with the band but it barely scratches the surface of what boton are all about. Amazing riffs, melodies, drums and amazing vocals by brad delp make this one of the best albums i have ever listened to it simply sounds amazing. as a beatles, rolling stone and doors fan (etc etc) i never thought i would like this, but it introduced the guitar pop rock music to me and i have never looked back. There isn't a bad song on the enitre album and i still listen to it constantly over a year later. at first you'll love the way the music and vocals seem to blend into each other - and that's without even properly listening to the lyrics, you'll want to listen to it over and over andf eventually you'll appreciate everything single background sound and tap that they make in each of their songs. You would not regret buying this album. If you buy this i guarentee you'll also eventually want to buy the second album 'don't look back' which isn't as good as 'boston' but still packs a punch - stay away from 'walk on' though. Unfortunately that album goes a little to 80s and the vocals aren't anywhere near as good as the 70s stuff.

boston

simply one of the greatest albums EVER!! more than a feeling is the reason i bought the album but once I listened to the rest off the album I discovered ther is not 1 of the songs a filler. I got this album away back in 1976 and it,s still one of my favourites. Unfortunately they never quite got to the hieghts of there debut album but they were still a great band. A MUST BUY ALBUM.

More than a feeling

Fabulous stuff! More than a feeling rocks as does the whole album. Foreplay will have you hooked! iTunes WHERE IS THIRD STAGE BOSTON'S GREATEST ALBUM?

The arena rock group behind one of the fastest-selling debut albums in history, Boston was essentially the vehicle of studio wizard Tom Scholz, born March 10, 1947, in Toledo, OH. A rock fan throughout his teen years, he began writing songs while earning a master's degree at the Massachusetts Institute of Technology. After graduation, he began work for Polaroid, and set about constructing his own 12-track recording studio in the basement of his home, where demos were recorded that earned Scholz and...
