Brave new direction - we applaud

The NME seems unsure on their new direction (live review 26-03-08) but on the basis of "Century" I have to say I'm impressed. If they'd come out with the same sound as the first LP everybody would have slated them. So good on them for brining out a single that sounds like Madonna hi-jacking Donna Summer and New Order's drum synth.

Best song of the year so far in my opinion. I haven't stopped listening to it really. The best off the new album though

Formed: 2005 in Sheffield, Yorkshire, England

Dorian Cox (guitar), Reenie Delaney (bass), Emma Chaplin (guitar/vocals), Kate Jackson (vocals), and Screech Louder (drums) comprise the glamorous new wave-tinged stylings of the Long Blondes. The Sheffield, England five-piece came together in 2005 and issued its debut, "Autonomy Boy"/"Long Blonde," a split 7" with the Boyfriends shortly thereafter. A handful of independent singles for Angular Records and Thee Sheffield Phonographic Corporation followed into 2006, as did the NME Philip Hall Radar...
