Better than Leprosy
Since the dawn of time, nay, the dawn of something older than that, the idea of writing songs about Time Lords has been the dreams of many. Some have tried and failed, (Roberta Tovey of the Cushing Films' fame, I AM looking at you), others have done quite well (Who Cares' Doctor in Distress is arguably the last likely to make your ears bleed and Frazer Hines' Who's Doctor Who is amazing). But Chameleon Circuit really take it another step forward. This new generation of fans who didn't have to make do with borrowed VHSs and the occasional repeat on UKGold have entered the worlds of Doctor Who and found it captivating. You know you're onto a winner when it inspires creativity. And hard work. A lot of production and effort has gone into this album as well as some of the cleverest lyrics in fan songs I have ever heard. Gallifreyan History 101 is truly the song for Old School fans. Ginger Chris did a fine job of making an amusing but still very accurate representation of Time Lord lore. An Aweful Lot of Running was, I think, the first Trock song Alex Day wrote and its still one of the best songs on the album. Blink is another early song that stands up after almost a year. K9's lament is so heart wrenching that it reminds me distinctly of documentaries about child abuse. I don't know if that's a good thing or not... Count the shadows is an impressive piece of work. Anyone who can get the name 'Vashda Narada' into a song and still make it sound good deserves a few medals. Journey's End is a bit of a laugh and will bring a smile to anyone's face (assuming you've seen the story...) In the end, this first outing for the Trockers is wonderous. Now we just wait for their second album, doubtless to be full of songs about Matt Smith's hair and flailing fingers...

Some low quality tracks but otherwise alright
Yes, Trock is great, and yes, this album contains some great songs, with some catchy tunes and great instrumentation, but some songs (namely 'Gallifreyan History 101' and 'Count the Shadows') have been recorded and mixed unprofessionally, and the audio quality is horrible. If you listen to those songs on anything but small, tinny earphones, you will noticed the difference. But, Type 40, K9's Lament, and An Awful lot of Running, are all great songs and of greater audio quality, which makes for some great listening for Doctor Who fans.
