Cribs ready for mainstream success.
With Cheat On Me being rush-released to combat leakers of the bands next album 'Ignore the Ignorant' The Cribs return on top form with Johnny Marr on board. The song has the same catchy feel and intensity as past records but the addition of Marr adds an extra sense of direction and maturity which will hopefully be replicated on the album.
Things go together better than others
Like the Jarman brothers and Johnny Marr! This is a fantastic example of what many had hoped would be the result of twinning the most exciting and constantly developing bands from the U.K in years with the undeniable genius of Johnny Marr. 3:24 of compelling listening, Cheat On Me grabs your attention with the stunningly crafted intro guitar lines weaving around one another beautifully and keeps it with the incredibly intelligent and cunning lyric, which unconfrontationally challenges perceptions of the modern male. Personally, as I'm sure you can tell, I was immediately won over by this single. Many others have commented that it is very much a grower - largely down to it catching many Cribs fans off-guard by managing to keep a lid on the often runaway tempos familiar to us all from previous releases. The song craft here is evidence that this band mean far more than any of the other tin-pot "indie" bands around - they still have principals and a point to make that is valid and important. In my opinion, this upcoming album will be a shining light, a ray of hope for proper "indie". In this day and age, people undervalue music as an art and it's for that reason I'd wrap this up by saying - Buy it - it's only 79p to support such a worthy band!
Johnny Marrvel
On their last album The Cribs proved that they can mix it with the best of the indie bunch, and now they have Marr to give them that extra bit of quality. This is a top track. Don't waste time listening to the sample, just download, sit back and enjoy the music!
