Album Review

Verve's Chet for Lovers compiles many of the iconic jazz trumpeter's most romantic sides recorded for such labels as Pacific Jazz and EmArcy during the '50s. While there are many more comprehensive collections detailing the career of the gifted yet troubled Baker, Verve does a nice job of focusing in on some lesser known cuts that spotlight the trumpeter's gifts for melody and lyricism. Included are such afterglow-ready tunes as "Easy Living," "Touch of Your Lips," and "Everything Happens to Me." This is a warm listen that perfectly sets its intended mood.

very cool chet

Laid back and with a clearer focus than Miles Davis. This is a great ntroduction to Chet and he sings on some of these. But I'd really like to see the Riverside album called 'Chet' available within these 8 pages of Chet, simply because it has Bill Evans on Piano and is very much a rival to 'Kind of Blue'. Then compare the two versions of 'Alone Together'. 'Chet' also has baritone sax from Pepper Adams that gives it more of that late night feel. But this'll have to do until then.

Dreamy, perfect autumn afternoon with Chet

Beautiful, dreamy voice, an absolute "must" if you want to laze around in an autumn afternoon with your honey! Goes well in any season you wish to be romantic!
