Lovely

The cover of "Christmas (Baby Please Come Home)" on this is brilliant, this song has been covered so many times but this is such a different interpretation. Really melancholy and the singer actually sounds sad & lonely, which when you listen to the lyrics actually makes more sense than the usual cheery versions ("They're singing deck the halls, but it's not like Christmas at all, I remember when you were here..."). Makes you wonder why no-one's sung it like this before!

The second song "One Christmas Fall" really is beautiful too, a tale about a group of visiting friends getting snowed in and having to stay for christmas. There's some cracking lyrics like "By the first the drunken revellers pierce the reverie, but tonight the season's chill is claiming victory..." and "They stumbled in their fallow breath hung in the air, as O Holy Night met their ears…" - nice to hear some originality in a new xmas song. Fantastic instrumentation too, the trumpet solos are beautiful and the song builds to a brilliant 'a cappella' choir finish. Thoroughly recommended.
