iTunes Review

The Smiths punctuated the tone on the soundtrack to 2009’s (500) Days of Summer, but the Temper Trap’s “Sweet Disposition” proved to be the most salient song with its U2esque guitars recalling The Joshua Tree and Dougie Mandagi’s elongated androgynous inflections. This Melbourne quartet's debut album pulses with the Britpop cool of Coldplay on songs like “Love Lost”, a mini-epic of an opener where guitars rhythmically throb to approximate heart palpations — though here Mandagi’s versatile voice bends up, as he croons soulfully similar to Mick Hucknall of Simply Red. The following “Fader” treads a similar path with a more driving beat that begs to be danced to. And the darker, starker hues of “Fools” seem to come from a place inspired by the melodic complexities of Radiohead’s better moments on In Rainbows. Conditions doesn’t have a British sound by accident. London producer Jim Abbiss (Arctic Monkeys, UNKLE, Adele) gave his Midas touch to an approach that was already anglophilic, save for “Science Of Fear”, an anthemic standout that features drum programming by DJ Shadow.

Stunning album... I promise

Wonderfully touching songs from this impressive new Australian group - Love Lost creeps up on you over woozy organ before it unleashes a disarmingly melodic chorus after the singer breathes"I Promise..."; Fader is an indie disco floor filler complete with whoo-whoo-whoo-whoos and of course Sweet Disposition will soundtrack a thousand Match of the Day montages - that epic. Beautiful widescreen stuff.

Ridiculous....

....this album is pure genius, a truly original expression of the talent these lads possess. Sweet Disposition could be one of the most uplifiting and inspiring songs I've ever heard. If you like Band of Horses, Rogue Wave, Friendly Fires, Fleet Foxes or bands of this nature then you will LOVE this album......just beautiful. Buy it, buy it, buy it!

Bonus!!

Superb album by a superb band thats bound to go far. Well worth downloading as the bonus tracks are excellent.

The Temper Trap released their debut EP that same year, and word of the group's potential soon spread to other continents. Veteran British producer Jim Abbiss (who previously worked on the Arctic Monkeys' debut) saw enough promise in the Temper Trap's material...
