Unmissable
Thirteen Senses have done the seemingly impossible. They have followed up their sumptuous debut "The Invitation" with another absolute gem of an album, in the magnificent "Contact" - which may possibly even surpass their gold selling Vertigo release. I have been listening to this album for days now, and it just gets better & better with every listen. They have delivered an album pushing closer to the mainstream, with a new, more upbeat, and slightly "harder" sound... yet still maintaining the same lush soundscapes, delicious melodies and soaring vocals that made "The Invitation" such a sensory delight. It is a real travesty that they go largely undiscovered, and fail to receive the recognition their undoubted talents merit; while bands like Razorlight, Kaiser Chiefs and Arctic Monkeys can be so critically acclaimed. While I greatly enjoy those bands, it is my opinion that TS are more gifted musically, yet fail to receive the airplay and coverage that would undoubtedly bring them deserved success. "Contact" is a breathtaking follow up for Thirteen Senses - a wondrous pleasure that did not disappoint, despite the expectation it had to live up to. This is the best album you will hear this year, I cannot recommend it highly enough. Make sure you don't deprive yourself of the opportunity to experience it... buy it now!
A great follow up....
Although maybe not quite reaching the incredibly high standard set by their first album, 'Contact' is nevertheless a powerful and bold record, chock full of soaring vocals and heartfelt lyrics and certainly better than Keane's latest offering, a band with whom they are often (unfairly) compared. Highlights here include the eerie 'Under the sun', the upbeat 'Spirals', and the quirky 'Follow me'. However the stand-out track for me has to be the beautiful 'A lot of silence here'...quality! If you've still got reservations, download these 4 tracks and see what you think (as well as giving their debut a listen). THE most underrated band in Britain....
Fantastic !
Great album - almost as good as their first, which is saying something ! All these guys need is a little air play and they will be massive. Back up thier 'recordings' with exceptional live performances. Buy the albums and do not miss them live !
