Dated? Please!!!

Debut is dated??? Get a grip!!! Debut is one of the most beautiful albums ever made. Venus As A Boy, There's More To Life Than This, Play Dead, Human Behaviour, Big Time Sensuality??????? Dated????? Never! Copied but never equalled. Bjork is one of the world's greatest artists, and this is her diving board, and boy she got some bounce on it. Henceforth Madonna was desperate to emmulate her, apparently the leading lady of music? Listen again and appreciate it for what it is not what some thrash mag told you!

Iconoclastic talent…

Or cheap electronic gimmickry? Was Tom Graves, the man that has been editor of Rock & Roll Disc magazine right when he trashed Bjork's first solo album Debut? and Nellee Hooper’s production work on the pages of Rolling Stones? Sales told us the truth, made history and Debut established Bjork as an international star. Nellee Hooper produced a great dance album, and the snobs that turned their noses up at what is maybe her most accessible work, were proved wrong. Bjork’s voice is wild and joyfully expressive; like in the percussive “Human Behaviour”, she looks to come from another dimension. But the album is full of suprises and moves onto more warm and sexy tunes like “Venus As A Boy” which sets the pulse racing. “It takes courage to enjoy it”, like she says in the lyrics of the savage-bluesy-dance “Big Time Sensuality”; but it’s no coincidende that another eclectic female musician, Madonna later worked with Nellee Hooper, and wanted the title track of her Bedtime Stories written by Bjork.

Big Time Sensation!!!

This a really playful, experimental and exciting album. It has a really nice original feel to it that still resonates 12 years later. The album cover has also become an iconic image of nineties pop. The best tracks are Come to me, Aeroplane and Play Dead. Human Behaviour was written when Bjork was only 14!!!

Björk first came to prominence as one of the lead vocalists of the avant pop Icelandic sextet the Sugarcubes, but when she launched a solo career after the group's 1992 demise, she quickly eclipsed her old band's popularity. Instead of following in the Sugarcubes' arty guitar rock pretensions, Björk immersed herself in dance and club culture, working with many of the biggest names in the genre, including Nellee Hooper, Underworld, and Tricky. Debut, her first solo effort (except for an Icelandic-only...
