Album Review
Brook Benton always seems merry. He enjoys his time in the recording studio, so who better to record a Christmas album than this jolly crooner? Even as you sympathized with him on the mourning "Rainy Night in Georgia," you knew he would weather the storm with little permanent damage to his heart other than a little scarring. This aptly titled season's greeting features Benton's affable, low-baritone-ish tenor rejoicing the precious holiday with songs that pay homage to the birth of Jesus.

Stints on the gospel circuit preceded Benton's first secular session for Okeh in 1953, but his career didn't begin to take off until he teamed with writer/producer Clyde Otis.
