Crisis. What CRISIS? This C.R.I.$.I.$.

     

This album opens like no other Hip-Hop album does. It starts off with the soulful "Turning Back," a song that seems to have a Pop appeal and yet still holds street cred. It's almost difficult to place it in a class. This is originality at it's best. The closing of the song reminds me of Otis Redding's "Sitting on The Dock of The Bay." The rest of the album is full of surprises. Nothing seems to go according to the pattern that the current Hip-Hop scene is following. The songs are well structured with catchy hooks and almost every song has got a bridge on it. This is the sort of professional layout that is missing from this genre of music. It's usually the same old loop playing over and over. The music also sounds like a blend of many genres but does not sound as though it is being forced. It is very entertaining. The rapper displays many different styles of vocal delivery. Very impressive debut. Press play and just enjoy the fact that almost every song on this album is a potentual single. C.R.I.$.I.$. is the total package. He can write, produce, engineer and mixdown his own songs. There aren't too many artists left with this skill.
