Unsure about James' influence

I absolutely love Can You Hear Me, and 2/3rds of Break My Soul is sublime. However, the folksy, Dido-esque influence of Charlotte James is a mood killer and disappointment for a long-term fan of Hybrid's wonderful dark, sophisticated electro-breakbeat-classical sound. Much prefer the sparse, soulful and haunting vocals of previous albums

Not as good as there previous albums...

I've been a long time Hybrid fan and couldn't wait for this album to come out.. I have to admit i was expecting big things from the trio but was sadly very disappointed.
Its basically just too vocal heavy to the point where its almost pop like, and what happened to the trademark strings guys?? They aren't used as much as i hoped they would be.. :(

Don't get me wrong there are some tracks that i do really love off the album, Empire, Can you Hear Me, Formula of Fear and Break My Soul.. After about 7 listens through i just can't (however much i want to!) get into the rest of the tunes..
Suppose i'll just have to wait for any good remixes that come out...

Absolutely superb!

I follow Hybrid for many reasons, excellent tunes, driving dance beats, impeccable consistency and unwavering originality.
Yet again, Hybrid have fulfilled all those requirements for making a superb album.
They continue with their winning formula, onwards and upwards.

There is very little more to say without giving away the enjoyment of the first listen to new buyers.

If you're new to Hybrid then buying this album will be a good introduction to what they do but then again, all of the albums do this.
So...buy this then once it's convinced you, buy all the other albums they have done :)

Hybrid began as a trio of remixers based in the Welsh city of Swansea: Mike Truman, Chris Healings, and Lee Mullin. Meeting while going to clubs in the early '90s, the three made their own remixes of recordings, eventually earning assignments from record companies to pursue their hobby professionally. Finally, they were signed to Distinct'ive Records and embarked on making an ambitious first album, Wide Angle, in Moscow, using such talents as singer Julee Cruise and the 90-piece Russian Federal Orchestra....
