Album Review

With the rebirth (reincarnation, rather) of the outrageously popular sci-fi series Doctor Who on the BBC, there comes (of course) the soundtrack. This time out, Murray Gold mans the TARDIS' stereo controls and, with the help of accomplished orchestrator Ben Foster, offers up some of the best music the series has ever had. From the tasteful reworking of Ron Grainer's ubiquitous theme music to the Walker Brothers-channeling tracks by the Divine Comedy's Neil Hannon, this collection of music absolutely nails the vibe and style that make Doctor Who such an enduringly popular series. There are times when Foster seems to borrow a bit heavily from the doom-and-gloom choruses of the latter three Star Wars prequels (see "The Daleks" for some serious Anakin angst drama), but this hits the mark nonetheless. ~ J. Scott McClintock, Rovi

Fantastic!

The music made the new series of Doctor Who - from the Randall & Hopkirk like Westminster Bridge through to the beautiful Rose's Theme. Go on - show the world that a soundtrack can rise high in the iTunes charts!

This is a wonderful soundtrack that has taken a while to appear. A handful of the tracks have had me in tears. I always had the feeling that soundtrack albums were a bit of a sad affair, but this is a great companion to the best thing on TV. Shame that 'Song For Ten' isn't the TV version, Neil Hannon doesn't seem to do it justice (although the eagle eyed amongst you will spot the original on the Doctor Who websites Christmas 2006 Advent Calendar - listen whilst you can!!). A must have for any Doctor Who fan, and even if you're not.

OH MY GOD !

This is a good album. As a fan of doctor who i think;; rose's theme, doomsday ad the doctors theme are the best on here. when watching doomsday it was very emotional how the time travelling pair got separated and the doctor left rose on the beach basically saying he loved her but not in the right words. they made such a good pair and in doomsday a little tear was in my eye as the music was so emotional. I hope rose comes back to doctor who to work with david as in doctor who they were so good. oh the wonders of sci--fi ! well done to the makers of doctor who && the album as they have a cracker here! i hope the new woman doesnt fall in love with the doctor as him && rose suit more :)
