Album Review

There's a perfectly good reason why the first single from Doll Domination, the Pussycat Dolls' second album, sports the punch line "When I Grow Up/I Want to Be Famous": despite a million-selling debut, the Pussycats aren't famous yet, a fact borne out by the disastrous non-launch of head Doll Nicole Scherzinger's scrapped solo debut Her Name Is Nicole. Heralded by several sexy magazine covers, the record was set for 2007 but disappeared after four singles failed to turn into hits. Maybe they weren't great songs, maybe the public didn't like them, but it's just as likely that even fans may not have known who she was, as her name was buried in the credits to PCD's debut and despite all that skin she flashed on all those magazines, nobody really could tie that girl to this group. Every single thing about Doll Domination suggests that the powers that be at Interscope and the PCD organization decided that PCD was an insufficient launch pad for solo stardom, so they made the second album into a showcase for Nicole and the other four Dolls, none of whom you could possibly name or pick out in a Maxim lineup. On Doll Domination's cover, each Pussycat straddles her own motorcycle bedecked with the initial of her first name, while on the album each gets to sing lead on at least one track and on the double-disc deluxe version — which clocks in at over 85 minutes, four minutes longer than Pink Floyd's The Wall — each Pussycat gets a track credited to herself.

Despite the parade of pretty, sculpted, generic R&B voices, there are some good tracks: the ever-reliable Kara DioGuardi helps give the shimmering '80s gloss of "Who's Gonna Love You" some shape and Ne-Yo's "Happily Never After" is a good ballad, and there's a Snoop Dogg cameo and Missy Elliot name-dropping Katy Perry. [The CD was also released with bonus tracks.]

Takin' Over The World

Their debut brought us amazing singles, but overall the album itself wasn't THAT strong. Doll Domination however, is a perfect pop album. It's a blend of uptempo R&B/Pop like When I Grow Up, Bottle Pop & Watchamacallit, mixed with mid-tempos like Elevator, Whatcha Think About That (feat. Missy Elliott), Halo and Takin' Over The World, and on top of that there's some beautiful ballads like I Hate This Part (a must have track for anyone who likes pop music), Hush Hush and Happily Never After. If you're too stingy or stupid to buy the whole album then at least get these tracks: In Person (crazy production: probably the best thing Timbaland's ever produced & amazing vocals) Elevator (we finally get to hear a song centred around Melody's vocals and it's so addictive) Magic (BANGER!!) I Hate This Part (bets on this being the UK Xmas #1?)

The Pussycat Dolls are Definatley going to Dominate the World!

This album is brilliant! I Love it, it's so much better then their previous album "PCD", The Pussycat Dolls have improved so much. I must say, the years since the last album they have worked extremely hard and produced a top class album, something for everyone to listen to with R&B Beats, Ballads, and Club bangers, theres nothing on here you will dislike. When I Grow Up is Wicked!, then the electronic "Bottle Pop" with featured Rapper (Snoop Dogg) and produce a excellent dance song. Watcha Think About That with Missy Elliott totaly rules, the Ballad I Hate This Part is a brilliant vocal song with most of the Pussycat Dolls acctually sing on this track, Takin' Over The World is awesome! with a middle eastern flute throughout the song with a Lovley base Rythmn. Out of this Club is good, Who's Gonna Love You (Is acctually) a Previous track Nicole (the lead singer) was going to have on her album "Her Name Is Nicole..." but was never released. Happily Ever After is another good song, Halo has to be one of my favourites on the album! It bloody rocks, the Music production here flows really well, the Chorous "I'm sorry I couldn't wear your Halo....I'm sorry I couldnt be your angel" are beautiful lyrics. In Person is a dancy track, and Elevator is yet another awesome song..Melody's vocals from "0:34 - 0:46" sound amazing, And its A.C.E. how all the Pussycat Dolls have a chance to sing on this album, as the previous album all you could hear was "Nicole", even though there was nothing wrong with that, its just nice to hear other Dolls from the group. Hush Hush is a ballad, Love The Way You Love Me is a good song, Lovin' the gutiar in the background from the start of the song and hearing music from the beach. Watchamacallit, I'm Done, Lights Camera Action and Finally Perhaps Perhaps Perhaps are all good finishing songs. The Dolls have seriously worked hard on this album and blows the previous album "PCD" out of the water. Watch out other girl groups, The Pussycat Dolls are going to Dominate the music scene. iPod Picks, When I Grow Up Bottle Pop Takin' Over The World Magic Halo Elevator Love The Way You Love Me & Lights, Camera, Action 10/10

It's unoriginal, I'm ashamed to say

I loved the first album from the Dolls upbeat, funky, just great songs. This album although I guarantee more mature, although the songs have the same beat and are pretty much the same. As much as love them my standards have dropped.
