The return of Genius

Some people had their saddest moment when Take That or East 18 or some other god awful band split.....

Mine was when it was announced that Orbital were no more, the solo work was admittedly brilliant (check out Paul hartnolls solo and Long Range album)but it was never quite as good.

Then last year it was announced that they were touring again and I was in the fron tor at newcastle and can honestly say it was the best gig I have ever been to....i dont know if it was the fact that we were told there would be no more or if the vodka was particularly good that night, but it just felt right.....

As a father, to receive a card a small present of my children and a cuddle is the best possible gift, but to release new tracks today....well I would like to officially adopt Orbital as my 3rd child...

The greatest electronic act ever and the best live act ever.

Thank you to The hartnolls Parents for the 2 nights of passion that gave birth to the finest music I have ever heard.

Welcome back - now get the new album released. (I would have given these tracks 8 stars)

I'm so happy I no longer care if England lose against Germany tomorrow

If these tracks had been released by anyone else, you'd think they were just pretending to be Orbital. The collection of tones and textures, the humour in the samples, the balance of crispness and coarseness, the crystalline arpeggios and layers of melody... but no, they've actually been created by the actual Orbital, actually in real life. Yeah, I know, it's amazing, innit?

It's been ten years too long. Welcome back, chaps. I hope you have some idea of just how much you've been missed.

Sorry neighbours, brace yourselves for a bit of volume...

Mssrs P & P doing their amazing thing and laying down the benchmark!

Thank gawd they're back & welcome back gents :) brilliant stuff - keep it building for a blinder of an album - you are an institution - FAB! :D

Biography

Formed: 1987 in Sevenoaks, Kent, England

Genre: Electronic

Years Active: '80s, '90s, '00s, '10s

Orbital became one of the biggest names in techno during the mid-'90s by solving the irreconcilable differences previously inherent in the genre: to stay true to the dance underground and, at the same time, force entry into the rock arena, where an album functions as an artistic statement — not a collection of singles — and a band's prowess is demonstrated by the actual performance of live music. Though Phil and Paul Hartnoll first charted with a single, the 1990 British Top 20 hit "Chime,"...
