I'm a bit of an old school dance fan and have their earlier albums, so was happy to see this out. I have to say I was disappointed on first listen, but I think that's just because the production style doesn't reflect the current club sound, - it kind of sounds like a Grid record from the early 90s with more going on. But this isn't a bad thing at all. There's no obvious club anthem in there (no Beat Called Love, Crystal Clear, Swamp Thing, Texas Cowboys etc), but the dance tracks have grown on me 10-fold since first listen. I do however, love their more laid-back groovy and mellow songs. Mighty Heroic, Free Your Mind, Fools Rush In, Be Hear With You are - all have the satisfyingly lush Grid sound which soothes the mind and soul. Ultimately, it's a really nice upbeat sounding record with hidden depth and complexity.

Featuring vocals by Chris Braide

The album tracks Closer, Fools Rush In, Be Here With You and Free Your Mind all feature the vocals of British artist Chris Braide. Check out Braide's own solo albums 'You Can't Be Friends With Everyone' 'Life In A Minor key' and 'The Upside'.

Follow-up 456 (1992) included contributions from Sun Ra and Robert Fripp, among others. Ball & Norris...
