intergalactic pagan tribaltronic avant-pop

What can I say other than wow? Bjork is back, and she's brought a great big load of beats and madness with her. This song, the ambassador first single for the forthcoming album Volta, is a whole new Bjork, yet it is a celebration of many themes that have always been prelevant in her music. Drummer Chris Corsano and Congolese dance masters Konono No1 bring some wonderful tribal thumping beats, while Timbaland helps out on synths and weirdness too. This a wonderful collaboration of many different infulences and is just so epic and mad and fun, it's impossible not to bounce along and marvel at the almost OTT grandeur. Bjork's voice is soaring as usual and sings some of her most vividly imaginative lyrics. This is an anthem for the human race as a modern global tribe, despite it sounding like it was recorded on Mars sometime in the distant future. It will bring out your inner shaman! I can't wait to hear the album now, it promises to be very vibrant, eclectic and up lifting :)

Earth Intruders - a much welcome return to form

Well worth 79pence of any Björk fan’s money. For me this is a real return to form for Björk. It has a real flavour of the better tracks from Homgenic or Post, which I still think of as her better albums. It’s a very catchy song (never a bad thing in my opinion) which I found myself singing along to after only a few plays… great! If the forth coming studio album Volta is half as good as this track suggests it could be roll… on May 7th.

welcome back

a huge return to form with a stomping commercial dance track that should (if there is a god) see Bjork back in the charts

Björk first came to prominence as one of the lead vocalists of the avant pop Icelandic sextet the Sugarcubes, but when she launched a solo career after the group's 1992 demise, she quickly eclipsed her old band's popularity. Instead of following in the Sugarcubes' arty guitar rock pretensions, Björk immersed herself in dance and club culture, working with many of the biggest names in the genre, including Nellee Hooper, Underworld, and Tricky. Debut, her first solo effort (except for an Icelandic-only...
