Different Shades of a Cloud

I was so surprised after reading the release date that I hadn't heard of the record sooner. A hidden Jem in what one might call the melting pot of 'acoustic-rock' artists at the moment - and all home grown.
"Earthbound" is more like Heaven sent and quality rather than quantity is at work here.
The first track Secret contains the teeth of the record - a bittersweet track clearly born from experience and demonstrates in one song the ability of this artist. Dark, almost haunting lyrics combined with the relentless guitar riff overlaid by Sophie's "hair standing on back of neck" voice and it blows any preconceptions you might have had about this album right out of the water.
The next highlight for me was Dreamlife - I don't know exactly what Sophie is referring to as her Dreamlife in this song but this track perhaps best shows off her amazing voice and think will find favour with all those re-assessing their situations, work/life/love right now.
On My Way Home - simple, acoustic with some very apt lyrics.
Other Tracks range from the ethereal Angel to the almost bluesy Start Me, On My Way Home is another highlight of acoustic bliss however I've mentioned it because of the lyrics more than anything else - simple and yet amazingly emotive.
Not all the tracks are purely acoustic with some being produced in sympathy with the song.
This is a great laid back record but with Teeth. Sophie is blessed with an amazing talent and her voice is astounding. This may sound far too cheesy but I urge you to take a listen and see if you get my drift as I can only describe this album as Different Shades of a Cloud.
P.S. Sophie also did the cover of the John Denver’s “Leaving on Jetplane” that is currently running on the TV Ad for a large British airline.
