The 14 tracks that make up Rounder's Essential Alison Krauss were handpicked by the artist herself. A successful performer since the age of 14, Krauss had quite the well to draw from, and Essential does a nice job giving listeners a cupful from each stage in her career, from the spirited, traditional bluegrass that propelled her into the spotlight in the late '80s to her genre-bending work with ex-Led Zeppelin vocalist Robert Plant in the late 2000s. While by no means an exhaustive study of the artist, Essential Alison Krauss offers a tidy, compact summation of the talented singer/fiddler's career to date.

Amazing
Alison Krauss is one of a kind. An amazing angelic voice, Unique and beautiful. I first heard her Cover of "when you say nothing at All" on CMT in the UK some years ago. It was truly touching. From then I started buying her Cd's with the collection "Now that I've found you." that is more gospel and country than this but still I was delighted. I now own all her CD's, She sounds as perfect live as on CD. She seems to delight in her work and have fun in doing it. You don't get the number of Grammy's she has won by just pumping out drivel. As her album with robert plant shows she is versatile without selling out. A rare and great talent. Treat yourself.

This is a really good album and the best song is when you say nothing at all.If you like country music this is a good album to buy.
