Sheer brilliance.
This album took rather a while to get into, on first listen it can be a difficult listen. The elements of modern death metal (or Deathcore, although I'm loathe to apply this style to The Contortionist, it's naive to assume the vocals are not influenced by other bands in this genre), styles of progressive bands such as Opeth (highlighted by the flowing nature of the final third of Flourish for example, that song would not be out of place on Blackwater Park) or the electronic tones of some of the tracks are simply superb however.
Give it your time and your attention and it will blow you away, i promise.

Kind of hard to explain, this band. Crazy metalcore and melodic symphonies with clean vocals? I'm gonna admit this band confuses me but also intrigues me. Definitely work a listen
