Customer Reviews

They get better and better...

I bought my first Dr Dog album for £1 in a bargain basket, and I've never looked back - trust me, this is NO bargain basket band! Enlightened harmonies, soul-crunching guitars and lyrics that get better everytime you listen! Buy this and you won't be disappointed - Dr. Dog are awesome!!! Hoping they tour the UK soon, as I'll be in the front row, count on it!!!

Word of Advice

If you havent heard them yet, you need to! Brilliant tunes that bring back the old days, grimey and raw, they speak for a corner of the industry that time forgot. Ace album, never a miss

Great Fate

I was introduced to this album by a friend and on first listen I thought it was a bit twee. It's definitely chirpy music, which I'm not usually drawn to, but subsequent listens reveal an artful, considered and crafted approach to songs and arrangements. There are elements of Wilco in laid-back mode and also perhaps The Zutons, though this is much more sosphisticated and less mannered material. Dr Dog have a very soulful, big sound. Horns, strings, swirling Hammond Organs coupled with clever stacked vocal harmonies combine to create a friendly, familiar musical stew reminiscent of The Band in their prime. File next to Blitzen Trapper under the heading "Great New Music That'll Make you Smile".

The group began as a part-time offshoot of the more traditional indie rock act Raccoon. Over the course of several years, guitarist Toby Leaman and drummer Scott McMicken found enough free time to record the casual, sprawling 35-track set The Psychedelic Swamp in a basement rehearsal space, finally...
