Hard work and dedication, it pays off!

I've know The Anomalies for a few years now and have seen the hard work and dedication which goes into their work.

Their energy on stage is second to none, and anyone who's ever seen them live will agree that their presence and persistence in pleasing in pleasing the crowd is fantastic. They love every minute of being on stage, and the crowd certainly agree. (Mouthmaster) Murph and Sam (Goldseal) provide some class lyrics and their tunes are bouncy and flowing courtesy of Mayhem. These guys are the Uk's version of the Beastie Boys with hints of J5, Cypress Hill and a smooth blend of Soul, Funk, Hip-Hop, Dance and Indie.

"The Anomalies" says it all, the clue is in the name. These guys take the classic areas of a mix of genres, and with their own unique twist provide some excellent music. These guys will be big!

Phenomenal

I have been following the progress of The Anomalies for a while now and eagerly awaited hearing their full debut album. I am pleased to say I was not disappointed. Not in the least. Every single song on this album is superb, even down to the reprise (unusual - I know!). Packed with more no.1-worthy tracks than Thriller, it's an unstoppable high energy mix. From the violin-inspired intro, to the beat packed "1830" that kicks the album off, using some wickedly catchy samples. You'll be singing along to this stuff before the 3:50 track is over, the same goes for the equally catchy "Creatures of Habit". Upon reaching the glorious "Kid Riot" take a moment to digest the lyrical flame that shall burn you into an inferno. In fact the only let down with this album is the fact there are no lyrics written in the album booklet, something which I'd relish reading. Next is the horn-led "Bamboo Beats". Catchy lyrics? Check. Funky beat? Check. Number 1 song? Most definitely should be. Then we take a different path; the route of instrumental. "Vibrations" is a medley of banging beats with samples, good ones at that. OK maybe this isn't a number 1, but it certainly sounds good blasted out the sunroof on a summers day. From here we migrate to the territory of popularity "Employee of the Month" - The Anomalies biggest hit. Which, sadly, isn't as big as it should be. Despite being an absolute corker of a track and getting some radio play (BBC6 Music anyone?) it wasn't big enough, in my opinion. Here we reach my favourite. Margarita. I could use profanities to explain how amazing I think this is, but I won't. I'll let you imagine instead. But it is THAT good and it is the latest single. Simply one of my favourite songs this year, possibly this century. I could dance repeatedly to this and do so, on a frequent basis. Next on the musical journey of Anomalies-discovery is a little Jurrassic 5 inspired detour into the realms of hip hop with the lyrically burning "Blue Peter". A short ditty, but a wonderful display of the guys excellent use of the English language. From there it is to a serene boat, floating on the (Caribbean) waters, to Jacobs Ladder. Incidentally that vibe is very apt as this song references lots of boats and salmons swimming up an icy stream. Not sure what the metaphor is about, but the guitar on this is delightful and the whole song builds to a wonderful crescendo. Ahh back to the raving tunes, just before this album finishes all together. "Old Skool". Hello, another number 1! "old skool is this new skool, is that old skool" and so forth will be running round your brain for days. The only possible downside is that it might annoy the crap out of you, however it is fab and is testimony that the album is great from the 2nd track to the penultimate. To end this utterly wonderful album we wind down with a reprise. Not just any old reprise though; a drum and bass reprise with yet another catchy violin hook, just like we began! My, aren't they clever. It's like whole story, War & Peace in an album. And absolutely fantastic it is too. So, go buy, go listen, go love, go make them no.1.

The Sound of 2009!!!

A mix of different genres perfectly blended together to make a modern day masterpiece.
