A Southern Storm!!
Saw the Smoke Fairies supporting The Dead Weather and to be honest they did not appeal live, However, their studio recordings are excellent. Guitars that ply a southern drawl whilst the folk style female vocals mix unexpectantly well. Imagine listening to this when standing on a porch in New Orleans whilst the humid heat fights the rain storm. Languid, not for all, granted, but brilliant nevertheless. Worth the price, go on, risk it.
Bloody brilliant
this is fantastic, really dirty slide mixes with a real folk beauty - BBC6 have been playing Frozen Heart a lot, thanks for pointing me in their direction!
New Music That's Worth Buying
Saw them perform live supporting Richard Hawley last night in Birmingham and thought they were great. They blend a quiet refrained white stripes blues with a folky almost irish tinge. Confused just buy the cd. They are interesting and don't conform. And look nothing like you would imagine them to be. Plus they make bags with Robots on.
