Album Review

One of the landmark LPs (alongside Leftfield's Leftism) in the resurgence of British house during the '90s, Gargantuan collects several epic singles — "Schmoo," the Oakenfold tribute "Land of Oz," "Don't Panic" — alongside excellent new material like the two-part "Little Bullet." Some of the album tracks are a bit predictable, but the duo's melodic sense and percussive edge rarely misfire.

The sound of the 90's

what can I say apart from the fact that this is an absolutely blistering album. This for me is truly the sound of the 90's.

The best album of the 90's

It doesn't get much better than this. Originally released over 10 years ago and I am STILL listening to this genre-defining masterpiece. Great progressive dance tracks and hypnotic sonic soundscapes - they don't make 'em like this anymore. Little Bullet Part 1 and Something's Got to Give are classics. (Also get the Little Bullet Live version from Beatport). Genius.

Best known for providing one of the first big blasts in the London progressive house movement, Spooky's debut, Gargantuan, is an enduring classic of the style, fusing thick analog production with deep, melodic house phrasing and sturdy rhythms....
