Lets be honest, the first disk on his Barcelona mix was inspirational and blew me away. Interestingly, I struggle to listen to disk two all the way through! His second attempt felt (like most GU albums) too polished and over thought...Nevertheless, my passion for disk One of Barcelona instinctively drove me to this purchase. However, I'm sorry to say, too many people are prepared to immediately put five stars on these kind of albums without really listening to them. Don't get me wrong, this is easily better than his last effort but still misses the bar if disk 1 on his Barcelona mix is the barometer.
Another classic GU release this year
After Nic Fanciulli's storming GU release earlier this year I thought maybe that would be it for classics this year. But now James Levelle has come along with GU37 and its as classic but in a different direction. Among the tracks its got more of the rock and cinematic qualities of UNKLE but still with great dance tracks thrown in. But its the 'Mix 2' that seals it for me, an absolute epic, with hints of Dubfire and UNKLE all over the place - its worth the album cost alone.
Another stunning mix...
James Lavelle continues his excellent Global Underground mixes with this beauty. Wow. What a mix. If you enjoyed the first two, you will love this. Buy it. You will not be dissappointed.
