An undervalued album, worth a look

Tubbs is originally from New Zealand, but has spent the best part of 7 years residing in the UK. He returned to New Zealand in 2003 to write and record his debut solo album, Good Days, Better Nights. Once he landed in London he initially found work as a touring DJ with legendary rapper Silver Bullet. Tubbs soon started collaborating with kindred spirits ILS and Wall Of Sound’s The Dirty Beatniks, which lead to a couple of years of frantic touring. Aside from his work recording as Tubbs, he also collaborates with Steve “Choppa” Harris as Atlantic Conveyor. This album was originally due for release on Carbon Records. Unfortunately Carbon ran into difficulties - Exceptional Records were delighted to come to the rescue, making sure this hidden gem of an album, now enhanced with extra tracks can now see the light of day. The vocals on the album come from Dallas (of Fat Freddy’s Drop fame) as well has Dee and Hame, all of whom compliment Tubbs’ laidback, soulful grooves. The single “New Way of Life” lifted from the album has had support from Annie Mac at Radio 1, Nick Luscombe @ XFM, Dave Mothersole at Kiss 100 and Mr Scruff, amongst others.
